Mission Trails

Mission Trails Regional Park is best for those looking for an open field area and natural  backdrop. It is in a central location and easy to get to no matter which area of San Diego you live in. Parking is easily accessible and walking is a short distance. This was the first location that I actually found "fall colors" in San Diego after moving here!

Directions to Mission Trails Regional Park:

1 Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego, CA 92119

Presidio Park

Presidio Family Photos.jpg

Presidio is a multi-level park with different scenes to offer including an open green grassy park, artistic structures, and a historical museum. It is right next to Old Town San Diego, which offers plenty of great restaurants and shops that help turn your photoshoot day into a complete family or couples outing. Parking is easy, but may be limited on the weekends depending on the time of day and events happening in the area.

Directions to Presidio Park:

2811 Jackson St, San Diego, CA 92110

Liberty Station

Locations-Liberty.jpg

Liberty Station is such a beautiful location to visit for any occasion. Easy to get to. Easy Parking. More ideal for smaller families and couples sessions, individual portraits, or headshots. There are a variety of buildings, arches, pathways, murals, and fun artsy shops to use as a backdrop for your photoshoot. During the holidays they add white lights to all of the smaller trees and set up a large Christmas tree near the art district, making it perfect for holiday photos.

2820 Historic Decatur Rd, San Diego, CA 92106

Seaport Village

Locations-SeaportVillage.jpg

Seaport Village is ideal for any photoshoot. You get the coastal bay views along with plenty of scenery and trendy backgrounds in between. With candy shops and ice cream parlors, it's easy to bribe the family into a family photoshoot here! During the holidays they add gorgeous, color changing string lights to the bridge and walkway area around the pond, so it makes for festive San Diego holiday photos. Parking is easy, however they do charge for parking, but the views are so worth it!

Directions to Seaport Village:

825a Kettner Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101

Balboa Park

Locations-Balboa.jpg

Balboa Park. All about the structures here! Beautiful buildings, museums, arches, gardens, lily pad pond, and more! Ideal for couples, seniors, Quinceañeras or individual portraits as it is always busy and requires more walking around which can make it difficult for larger groups or family photos. Parking is decent. Depends on time of day, weekends can be very busy. Overall this location does provide a wide variety of stunning backdrops as long as you're willing to walk.

Directions to Balboa Park:

2168 Pan American Rd E, San Diego, CA 92101

Family Christmas Tree Farm

Locations-ChristmasTreeFarm.jpg

The Family Christmas Tree Farm is a sought after location, perfect for your family Christmas cards. It's a farther drive if you do not live in East County, but well worth it. They provide a red wagon for each family to use, which is always fun for the kids! Reservations are required and they do charge a small fee for family photo sessions. The earlier in the season you book the better.

Directions to Family Christmas Tree Farm:

300 Pepper Dr, El Cajon, CA 92021
